      Molten Steel Hydrogen Probes
HYDRIS could measure the hydrogen content of the molten steel in ladle, tundish and ingot mold directly. As the carrier gas,nitrogen passes through the probe, enters the molten steel liquid and siphons off the hy drogen from the molten steel. The process will be ended until the hydrogencontent is balance between the carrier gas and the molten steel liquid.

1. As the carrier gas, nitrogen is pushed by the pump in the circuit. It enters the molten steel liquid and forms bubbles after passing through the gas pipeline, measuring lance and the blowing pipe of the probe. The nitrogen bubble comes back to the gas cabinet by passing through the air plug of bell jar in the probe after absorbing the hydrogen from the molten steel liquid. The carrier gas will circulate in the circuit many times until the hydrogen content is balance between the carrier gas and the molten steel liquid.

2. 
The thermal conductivity tester of the pneumatic cabinet is able to analyze the hydrogen content in the carrier gas.
According to SIEVER law, the hydrogen content in the molten steel liquid could be calculated by the Hydrogen pressure.

1. Check the inlet pressure of pneumatic cabinet for nitrogen and the service condition of loop filter. Make sure the blinking cursor in the lower right comer of instrument screen indicatesthe ready status.

2. Press the start button of the pneumatic cabinet or press the F2 button of the instrument, and the system begins to work. The hydrogen measuring lance blows out and the instrument screen shows the bolwing press constantly rises. About 10 seconds later, the yellow light of the pneumatic cabinet is on while the red light is still on.

3. Install the hydrogen probe carefully and screw up tightly, but prohibit to impact hardly. After 4-5 seconds, the green light is on while the red light is off. In the meanwhile, the yellow lightkeeps on. The blowing press on the instrument screen con stantly rises to 4500Pa. Yellow light is off while green light on, the system gets ready for the measurement.

4.It must be stopped blowing argon before measurement until the molten steel liquid has been quiet for about 1-2 minutes. It should be avoided to measure during the period of adding alloy into the liquid or measure the hydrogen content immediately after adding alloy.

5.Lift the hydrogen measuring lance carefully and insert it into the molten steel liquid while keepthe probe vertical to the liquid surface. The depth of the insertion is about 300-400mm. Hold the lance steady and keep balance to avoid of shaking. Prohibit lift the lance before finishing the measurement until the red light is on what represents the end of measurement(in the meanwhile the buzzer rings out in the pneumatic cabinet.

6. 
After measurement, take the probe out timely and carefully and check the contact block is clean or not. Put the hydrogen measuring lance away and do not leave the used probe connected with the lance in order to avoid of damaging the hydrogen measuring lance.
